Merry Christmas

Our Christmas Party will be on Friday from 2:30-3:00.  I have sent home a list what your child should bring for the party.  Also we are doing a Secret Santa gift exchange and students should bring 21 items for our Christmas gift bags before Friday.  I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Years and enjoy your two week break from school!

We have been studying Native Americans of Texas for the past few weeks.  This week we are working on a Native American project.  Students are working in pairs to create a project about their tribe.  Projects that they may do include: writing an essay, creating a picture book, making a diorama, writing a song, performing a puppet show and creating a poster.  They are very excited about it.  They can do research and bring items from home as we work throughout the week.  I can't wait to share pictures of them working, presenting and final products on the webpage.

We finally finished our Pizza Project Based Learning.  I'd like to give a special shout out to Jesse at Jesse's Pizza Co. in Borger for donating pizza boxes to all of the 4th graders at Crockett! Thank you for your donation!!

In Math this week we are beginning to study Geometry.  Take a look at the useful links for some catchy tunes to help remember Geometric terms that 4th graders are responsible for learning.

This week is Red Ribbon Week.  Crockett will be having dress up days to help remind students to Be Drug Free!

For the past few weeks we have been learning about the Regions of Texas.  Here is a mnemonic device our kids learned to help them remember those regions.  Ask your child about their Texas Graphic Organizer and let them share all the interesting facts they have learned about the 4 Regions. Click the picture below to see our video.

Can't wait to see you all on Monday for our class' presentation of their annual music program.  Please bring your child to my room by 5:45 PM.  The Crockett Book Fair will also be open for parents after the program, as well as through the entire week.  Finally, chocolate sales end on Wednesday.

Parent Teacher conferences are scheduled for next Thursday October 6, 2016.  I will be sending home a letter with your time slot on it soon.
This week we did a great experiment in Science Lab.  I have posted instructions for the lab on the Useful Links tab.  This would make an exciting activity to do at home with the family.

It has been an awesome beginning of a school year!
There will be no homework for the last week of the six weeks.  The week of September 26th will be the last week of the first six weeks.  This week your child can expect to take 3 major Six Weeks Assessments and end the week enjoying a Conduct Movie if all of their work is completed and their conduct grade was greater than an 84.
